WA has made it three wins from three matches at the National Under 17 Championships after a crushing nine wicket defeat of Tasmania in Adelaide today.
Tasmania was dismissed for just 129 in the 44th over after their skipper Beau Webster won the toss and chose to bat first. WA cruised to victory with just under 18 overs to spare and for the loss of just one wicket.
Bayswater-Morley's Ryan Wetherall was the pick of the WA bowlers with 4-22 in 8.3 overs. Willetton's Simon Mackin, Midland-Guildford's Doug Waghorn and Subiaco-Floreat's Ben O'Regan took two wickets each.
Fremantle's Brody Lewis got the run chase off to a great start, belting 52 from just 57 deliveries. Fellow opener Will Bosisto (Claremont-Nedlands) played the anchor role to perfection, finishing unbeaten on 39, while skipper Ashton Turner (Fremantle) was on 29 when the winning runs were scored.
WA takes on the host state SA in the last of its one-day matches tomorrow at Glandore Oval, before enjoying a rest day on Wednesday ahead of the start of their two-day campaign.
