Western Fury's Lauren Ebsary has been named in the 14-player Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad to play against India in the approaching series in Australia.
The series, which will be played in New South Wales and the ACT, includes five one-day matches and a Twenty20 game.
The series also includes two lead-up matches against the Commonwealth Bank Shooting Stars squad at Bankstown Oval.
The Fury's Renee Chappell was an unlucky omission from the squad but is expected to fight her way back through the WNCL.
Western Fury Head Coach Steve Philippe says Renee's injury problems have prevented her from being considered.
“Renee's injury problems and a wealth of talented spinning all-rounders around the country have contributed to her omission. I have no doubt she will be back in the green and gold before long,” Phillipe said.
“It is great for Lauren to get her opportunity. She had an outstanding finish to the season last summer and thoroughly deserves her chance at the highest level. She is an explosive all-rounder that will add a new dimension to the line-up.”
With medium pacer Rene Farrell waiting in the wings, WA is well placed to have multiple representatives in the squad for the upcoming World Cup in Australia in March.
The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad for the India series is: Karen Rolton (c), Alex Blackwell (vc), Kate Blackwell, Leonie Coleman, Lauren Ebsary, Sarah Edwards, Jodie Fields, Delissa Kimmince, Shelley Nitschke, Ellyse Perry, Kirsten Pike, Leah Poulton, Emma Sampson, Lisa Sthalekar.
