Round seven of the SunSmart cricket competition saw Subiaco Marist host Rockingham – Mandurah at Newman College. With the centre square affected by recent rain, play was delayed until 3:10pm at which time the teams took to the field for a 22 overs per side game. Subiaco Marist won the toss and elected to bowl with the visitors making their intentions known early, playing their shots and getting off to a good start. It was Avril Fahey that made the breakthrough and after the first wicket fell, Rockingham – Mandurah lost wickets at regular intervals. Amanda Williams was the stand out batter for the visitors with 36, while Jaimie Wilson provided good support with her 19 in the middle order, to give the visiting team a competitive total of 6 for 99 to defend. Subiaco Marist captain Avril Fahey starred in the field, picking up 3 wickets and taking two catches, while Emma King picked up two wickets and Rachel Loh completed two good stumpings. The Subiaco Marist run chase was off to a shaky start at 2 for 21, but it was Avril Fahey again who did the job for her team, holding the innings together and scoring an unbeaten 48 to ensure Subiaco Marist secured the points. Jaimie Wilson capped off a good day picking up 2 for 17 and Amanda Williams chipped in with 1 for 16 to be the pick of the Rockingham – Mandurah batters.
