The WACA, with the assistance of some high quality specialist coaches has recently completed the theory and practical components of Cricket Australia's Advanced Coach (Level 2) Coaching Course (4th -28th August).
Former Northern Territory Institute of Sport head cricket coach Graham House was the special guest presenter at the course along with other high profile coaches including Darryl Foster, Prof. Bruce Elliot, Mark O'Neil and Martin Tobin.
Participants were immersed in informative coaching workshops from the above presenters and other WACA Coaching staff over the three and a half day course. Following this, practical presentations on the five main skill area's (Batting, Bowling - Pace/Swing, Wicket keeping, Fielding and Spin Bowling) were held on Sunday mornings throughout August.
This is the first time the Advanced Coach (Level 2) Course has been conducted since 2003. Participants who attended the course have an array of new ideas to implement into their training programs this season and have continued to develop their knowledge and confidence to develop the game and their players at all levels.
Assessment tasks, being the final component of the course, are currently being completed by those involved. Finally, their performances will be viewed by WACA coaching staff in the field while coaching before they are fully accredited by the WACA and Cricket Australia.
If you have obtained your Development Coach (Level 1) accreditation and you are interested in being involved in next years course please visit the "Coach Education" section of "Coaching and Development" within the WACA web site or contact Shane McDermott on (08) 92657233.
