Vision 2030 Newsletter #3
20 December 2014

This final Vision 2030 newsletter for 2014 brings you up to date with progress of the WACA’s Future Development Strategy Committee (FDSC).

Our aim was to have a report and recommendations ready for the full WACA Board to consider at the end of this year.

Mike Smith and his committee have made significant progress during the past few months, however there is still important work to complete before the report can be finalised.

This primarily relates to how the commercial terms and conditions for operating the new Perth Stadium will impact on the financial modelling of the options being considered.

The FDSC has been working closely with commercial advisory firm Ernst and Young to examine a number of options for the WACA, including various levels of redevelopment and integration with cricket at the new Perth Stadium.

These will continue to be refined but until we have all the data it is not possible to determine what part the new Perth Stadium will have in the future of cricket in Western Australia and how this will impact on the various options.

We will continue to work with the State Government in the coming months, however the complexity of these discussions means that we do not expect the report of the FDSC to be finalised before the end of the first half of 2015.

While we would like to have been able to complete this sooner, I believe it is important to have all the information to allow the right decisions to be made in the interests of the immediate and long term future of cricket in this State.

In keeping with our commitment to keep our Members informed about progress with this work, we are planning another information night for the first quarter of next year. We will give you ample notice to attend this once a date has been finalised.

You can continue to submit suggestions simply by visiting the WACA website clicking on Have Your Say.

This site has useful information about Vision 2030, including credentials of the FDSC members, Terms of Reference, key dates and frequently asked questions.

I wish you a happy and safe festive season and look forward to bringing you more news in the New Year.
