Western Australia's Country XI celebrates the 2014 ACCC title in Canberra
Western Australia’s Country XI squad has been selected for an upcoming match against the WA Development Squad ahead of the 2016 Commonwealth Bank Australian Country Cricket Championships (ACCC).
WA, who were Australian champions in 2014, will compete in the tournament which takes place in Mount Gambier from 3-11 January.
As preparation, the upcoming matches will take place on Sunday 18 October at Kingsway Reserve and Sunday 1 November at Fletcher Park (both 10am starts).
The matches will be new coach Stewart Walters first in charge of the side. The squad selected is for the first match only.
The team features five of the 2014 championship winning side, with Ross Knoll, Josh Petersen, Rodney Ford, Jamie Miller and Tyler Robertson.
Exciting South West and Rockingham-Mandurah under-25 talent Robertson has just returned from the Netherlands playing cricket in the off-season to take his place.
WA veteran and 2014 Australian XI captain Rodney Ford returns for another go at the coveted ACCC shield. Upper Great Southern brothers Brock and Grady Francis will be a feisty bowling combination.
Exciting Esperance recruit Daniel Styles will be looking to secure a place as a spinner bowling his right-arm leg spinners.
