WACA Congratulates Voges On Captaincy Record

The Western Australian Cricket Association today congratulates Adam Voges on becoming the State’s most successful Sheffield Shield captain based on wins.

Voges led the Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors to an innings-and-38-run triumph over Victoria at the WACA Ground on Sunday, marking his 23rd win as skipper.

Voges, who has captained WA 53 times, overtook John Inverarity who previously won as State captain 22 times.

The 37-year-old’s record as captain includes 23 wins, 10 draws, 19 losses and one no result.

Warriors coach Justin Langer said: "It’s a great achievement for Adam Voges.

"He’s an outstanding leader and it doesn’t surprise me that he’s achieved this feat.

"With all his success, the only disappointment for him and Western Australian cricket is he hasn’t won a Sheffield Shield yet.

"Hopefully it’s this year.”

The WA-Victoria match also marked Voges’ 200thfirst class game of his career.
