Belridge Secondary College and Mazenod College last week won the Kim Hughes Shield and Graeme Wood Shield respectively for term one.

The two Shields are part of the secondary school competitions conducted by the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) and the Western Australian Schools Cricket Council (WASCC).

Belridge defeated St Mary’s Mackillop Catholic College at Murdoch University Playing Fields on Monday 27 March.

The Kim Hughes Shield had commenced in the first week of February, with $600 for the champions and $400 for the runners-up.

Mazenod went back-to-back when they knocked off CBC Fremantle at Peet Park in Kewdale on Wednesday 29 March.

The Graeme Wood Shield got underway in mid-February, with $400 for the champions and $250 for the runners-up.

The competition's purpose is to provide WA secondary school students with an opportunity to participate in formats of cricket suited to all levels of ability.
