Ogilvie receives School Ambassador of the Term Recognition

Perth Scorchers' School Ambassador of the Term returns for 2024, with Belridge Senior College’s Scott Ogilvie the recipient of the award for Term One.

The Perth Scorchers School Ambassador of the Term, awarded in Terms one and four, recognises the influence of individuals looking to grow the game of cricket through schools.

Currently, Scott is the head of the Belridge Senior College's highly successful specialist cricket program, a position he has held for many years.

His passion, enthusiasm and work ethic are a real feature of his coaching, with every student he coaches walking away a better cricketer and person under his mentorship.

While developing your cricket skills forms a fundamental part of the specialist program, Scott’s ability to teach the kids about coaching and umpiring the game allows the kids to understand the game on a far more advanced level, while future proofing our great game for the next generation coming through.

Scott regularly goes outside what his role at Belridge expects of him, by working closely with WA Cricket to allow his students the opportunity to progress their umpiring skills at various junior carnivals throughout the school year.

His teaching methods rely on encouraging his pupils to enjoy learning the game of cricket, and naturally developing their skill level through repetition and dedication to training. Scott has had a remarkable ability in producing first-class cricketers, with current state allrounder Cooper Connolly one of many success stories to come from the Belridge program.

Another marker of success of Scott’s work has been the influx of girls that have joined the Belridge program in recent years, with their training sessions being carefully designed to ensure each student can develop their skills at their own pace.

Scott is a wonderful ambassador for the game of cricket, his passion for cricket is unrivalled and his positive and supportive attitude towards his students and everyone at WA Cricket makes him a very worthy recipient of the Perth Scorchers School Ambassador of the Term award for Term One 2024.
